Seeing Tree Spirits
The trees are alive IN
MORE WAYS THAN ONE. For those who believe, we can see their spirits show
themselves. They have long been recognized as a symbol of life and
regeneration and to many modern day pagans they hold sacred knowledge.
I've often walked outdoors, beneath the trees and heard them talking. Most
people walk and only hear the squeak of trunk and wind but to the
mystically minded, it's so much more than that. The trees voices can
indicate the mood of the day or turmoil soon to come. Seeing, listening,
smelling, touching, emotionally feeling, physically feeling and even
tasting the air in outdoors are all the senses you can use to help you
shift into your magickal state of being.
Here's a photo I took many years ago on a day not unlike today, when the
winter wind brought loads of heavy, wet snow quickly to the place I call
home... A snow squall came quickly and I wanted to show my online friends
so I ran outside and quickly took a photo and emailed it off to far away,
cyber friends in far away, cyber lands. Quickly came back their responses,
"Do you see the face?!" "OMG did you see that face?!"
I hadn't noticed it, I was hurried and rushed that day. The abrupt arrival
of harsh weather wasn't helping any either. As I brought up the photo on
my computer, I gasped as I saw him. I quickly ran outdoors, without my
coat on and my boots hastily yanked up over slouching, bunched up socks,
to the spot where I had taken the photo but alas he had gone.

Can YOU see him? I was too preoccupied to greet him when he so kindly revealed himself to me outdoors but he taught me a lesson all the same, take time to slow down and enjoy the outdoors, the woods, and all wild places, and yes, even unpleasant weather patterns, so I do and each time the snow falls wet and thick and heavy, I remember him, the tree spirit that lived near my first home.
