ROSE Of JERICHO

a.k.a. RESURRECTION PLANT

This remarkable annual desert plant (Anastatica hierochuntica) is of the "Mustard" family. Also known as the Resurrection Plant. The fronds curl into a ball at maturity as it dries out, in its native habitat, it is blown by the wind and the seeds are dispersed. Wicca and pagan herbs are magick.

The plant is often kept dormant in the home and moistened in a bowl of water at Yule or Christmas time. It miraculously comes back to life, symbolizing the new hope and joy of the season. In the past , these plants were past down, through the family as an heirloom.

 

There is no need to plant it in soil, simply place it in a bowl of water and it will open up within 1-2 hours. Change the water daily. It shouldn't sit in water too long, though.
